ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Wes Fest is over for 2019 - follow us on social media for information on future events!
After running parties based on cult TV & films since 2014, including several Wes themed events, in 2018 The Brighton Film Party Society took the plunge and developed their ideas into a full blown D.I.Y. mini boutique festival for Wes Anderson fans in Brighton. In conjunction with White Wall Cinema we have hosed two festivals utilising five locations, that host film screenings, a Q&A session with the lead actor from one of Wes's films, a Moonrise Kingdom themed outdoor Camp Ivanhoe party with food, drink a quiz and crafts on site, a Bellfaonte Zissou boat party in a floating venue, our legendary fancy dress party with live bands, DJs which takes place in an entirely Wes themed immersive setting and much more. Whether your favourite is Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel or Isle of Dogs. Lookout on our social media for upcoming announcments about future events so you too can get ready to mix with like minded Wes disciples at a festival by Wes fans for Wes fans.
2019 SPECIAL GUEST
JARED GILMAN AKA 'SAM SHAKUSKY' FROM MOONRISE KINGDOM
Joining us in person for this year's festival will be none other than Jared Gilman the star of Wes Anderson's 2012 film Moonrise Kingdom. Set in 1965 on Anderson's fictitious island of New Penzance, Jared played the movie's lead part, Sam Shakusky the 12 year old runaway orphan khaki scout who evades an all star ensemble cast which includes Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Bob Balaban and a young Lucas Hedges, in pursuit of his secret romance with the 12 year old Suzy Bishop, played by Kara Hayward.
Jared's role as Sam the runaway scout has become one of the key icons of Wes Anderson's filmography alongside the likes Steve Zissou, Richie & Margot Tennebaum and Zero the lobby boy of The Grand Budapest. Jared will be joining us at this year's festival for a live and in person on stage Q&A session following a special screening of Moonrise Kingdom, to discuss his experiences working on the film with Wes, and what it was like to be cast in such a high profile and beloved movie at such a young age.
